Power Gem Progress
I like posting pictures of broken things like this... because when you play it and see everything working, you will know how far it came. Spider & Tunik have been working on the power gems & inventory... hit the read more below for full details.

We had an ambitious list on Tuesday. The code features have been implemented. I tested the latest version of the game on Friday but we still have a few outlier User Interface issues like the cursed 4:3 aspect ratio screenshot above. I am extremely eager to see Damage numbers and Health as the primary stat displayed on the Gem screens. Here is what Spider & Tunik sent into chat on Friday.
I added comments in gray to help explain what the changes mean.
Spider (Code)
- Player's equipped gear now has fallback stats to 0 if no gems equipped (So even items without gems will have some power)
- Power Gems use the same list Item prefab as regular items (So you can see them in your inventory list)
- Power Gems have been combined into main inventory (So players can keep them as items)
- When selected, Power Gems in the inventory open the Gem preview instead of the regular item preview
- Functionality exists to use the "power up" button on un-gemmed items
- Implemented Stat comparisons when viewing an item should compare to your currently equipped
Tunik (UI)
- Inventory preview
- Made the window it taller so players can see more
- Sell back value is no longer shown outside of shops
- Fixed the issue where the armors were not displaying in the preview window
- Zoomed out on all items so they fit in the window better
- Full stat names are used in the description "Strength" instead of "STR", etc
- Equip button is the full width of the window
- Destroy button has been moved to the top left of the preview window
- Loot
- "Destroy all" text has been changed to "Discard All"
- Inventory
- Items are sorted by recency
- Removed the gem tabs
- Fixed an issue with the list item prefab where it couldn't be clicked on the right side
- Gems window
- Fixed the click-blocker hit-box
Next Up
At this coming Monday's full team meeting we will be testing the upgrade system and reviewing intro. These will be the focus of the next Tech Demo.
