Greetings and salutations,
This weekend, we alerted the Tampa Bay area team members of Artix Entertainment about another major hurricane headed our way.
Hurricane
Hurricane Milton has just become a Category 5 (At the time this post was originally written on Monday) and is expected to make landfall here later this week. Hopefully it will slow down a bit before it reaches land. I instructed our team here in Tampa, Florida to prioritize their safety and do hurricane prep. Everyone has a plan. Alina and I made ourselves available if anyone needs anything.
This week's releases
The one advantage to our international team made of players who turned into devs is... we are everywhere. Most of the games will have their weekly releases as scheduled. Our game servers are in Texas and will not be impacted. However, AdventureQuest 3D , AQWorlds: Infinity , and player support have large portions of their team here in Tampa. It is very likely we will be without power. Even when Hurricane Helene went North, we still lost power down here. This storm is coming straight at us. So, AdventureQuest 3D will attempt to releasing their (returning) Mogloween areas before the storm. If the artists loose power, next week's release is going to be in a tough spot.
Infinity & the Tech Demo
Thank you again to everyone who helped test the latest Tech Demo! It was a massive success. Considering we did not know if it would even last a few minutes... It ran for 4 days. It sure passed the "Stability Test" part. (I have yet to log in without seeing the player SpikeTom standing in town. You did your part!)
The AQWorlds Infinity team met in Discord voice chat this morning to sync on our post-tech-demo plan. Bludrut Keep, the cutscene system, and the hair/helm issues are at the top of the priorities. Also, we want to polish the other base classes: Warrior, Rogue, and Healer. We will need at least one more tech demo just for those core features before we start Alpha. Our team members outside of Florida will continue working on the features if those of us here in Tampa are without power. For obvious reasons, we will postpone the daily update Infinity posts until next week. I will share any interesting GIFs on social media for you though!
I try to keep things light hearted and fun, but I cannot overstate how seriously we take hurricanes and the safety of our team, family & community.
