Immortal Founders... Re-generate your Statues!
Spider & I worked on improving the statue colors today. The 1st gen statues were very dark and a little washed out. To fix this, we changed the export process. It now normalizes the colors around a nice stone-gray. When you re-generate your statue, it will now be brighter, have more contrast, and have more authentic stone look. In the screenshot below you can see the difference between mine, and the previously converted Sanaee and Mog Lin ones.

The new process will make statues made from armors with wildly different colors and contrast look nice when they are sitting together.
The one complication we ran into.... were armors with pure black base colors. You can see in the image below.

It looks pretty good as is, but we really wanted that "statue look". This of course means the darkest color needs to be a dark gray. We tried clamping the colors to force it to gray, but all that did was make the other statues look washed out. An exponential roll off did not really help either. So ultimately, we came to the conclusion, that if your armor is as pitch black as night.... then you probably would want your statue made out of obsidian to show off that darkness. So, in our head-cannon, that is now what dark statues are. It does look really nice.

As pure luck would have it, I ran into my own statue in the gardens surrounding the Sanctuary. Outside of the tower, the statues are randomly chosen from all possible statues. This gives every Immortal Founder a chance for their statue to be seen by players wandering around the gardens, doing quests.
See how, on the other statue, the base of the statue lost a lot of its shading and the cape is washed out? The color normalization should fix this. We have the ability to tint the statues. We heavily considered adding a touch of gunmetal-blue tint to the statues, but players have so many houses with so many different colors that we thought keeping it neutral would be the best thing for players in the long run.
Spider made smarter scripts for us to use in the maps. So now we can....
For those of you wanting more control over the look of your statue, Spider is working on an advanced Statue poser. This feature will basically be a special page on our website. Also, we are figuring out the best way for you to toggle on/off if you want other players to be able to get your statue from the statue shop.
The new color feature was released live today. If you regenerate your statue, the colors should be nicer. If it is, please let us know. If it is now.... then we really need to know! :D #Alpha
