 The AdventureQuest Worlds: Infinity Tech Demo is back online with combat, quest, and monster fixes. We made A LOT of changes and really need your help testing everything in the Bludrut adventure on Steam. Your level and quests have been reset so you can fully help test the fixes. Especially those combat desync issues that resulted from Unity skipping animation events. 

Tech Demo 007 Returns

  • WHEN: Tuesday until Friday at 3pm.
  • WHO: Upgraded Members & 15th & 16th Upholders of AQWorlds
  • HOW: While the test is live, a button for a "Play Test" version of the game will appear on Steam.
  • WHERE: Steam Playtest (Steam/PC Only) Report bugs on the Artix Games Discord

How to join the play test

What is in this test

  • Bludrut Keep & Fixes
    • Combat overhaul - and fallback if animations fail
    • Monster Fixes
    • Quest Turn in fixes (should fix any issues preventing you from turning in quests.)
    • Quest Objective fixes
    • No more "Empty Loot" drops
    • Added Age Rating. Does the PlayTest version show for countries that were missing it now?
  • Reward: Bludrut Blade
    • Complete the story to unlock the Blade
    • Only obtainable in AQWorlds Infinity
    • Yes, you will also have it when you log into the regular AQWorlds
  • 33 Quests
  • 29 Cutscenes
  • 6 Unique Boss Fights
  • 1 Very Cursed Mirror
  • Improved Classes:  Warrior, Mage, Rogue, & Healer (Unified Infinity versions)
  • Loot Drops (& Loot Inventory)
  • Features: New Stat, Combat, Enhancement, Music, SoundFX, and Interactive Machine Systems
  • 100% brand new, never before seen bugs! (This is where you come in.)

PLAY BY PLAY

Tuesday

  • 10:45am - It is that time again! ...time for pumpkin spice everything O_O. Getting coffee. The server hamsters are going to need it today.
  • 11:30am - Zhoom is publishing the last build of the server and posting it to Steam. 
  • 12:00pm - TECH DEMO 7 IS BACK ONLINE! 
    • Reminder: Level and quests have been reset so you can help us retest everything. 
  • 12:30pm - Realized that while we reset Levels we did not remove or unequip your enhanced items. So you are the most overpowered level 1 to every walk the world of Lore. Have fun!
  • 1:00pm - Fix rolled for monster locked rooms. 
  • 1:50pm - Server restart for class fix (One of the Warrior skills had an infinite cooldown O_O)
  • 2:30pm - The test is going really smooth. We are fixing little things here and there. The combat and quest fixes the team made did the trick! Very proud of them. The feedback from the last few tests, even with the bugs was very positive. Players told us how much they like the fast combat and animation. I am sure there will be some giant nasty surprise bug before we are though, but this is looks super promising. We have been working on this for so long, it is crazy to be reaching this point. I am having a hard time letting myself believe it. 
  • 6:25pm - Hopped back on after Martial Arts and was thrilled to see so many players hanging out. No major bug reports, so going to leave the server up. Enjoy! :D
  • MIDNIGHT - Server still online. Been hanging out with some players in chat. Made a fix for the chat that will roll out in the morning. Things seem pretty good so far. 

Wednesday

  • 9:00am - Server still online O_O. Top questions being asked...
    • Q: When will Umbra & DragonSlayer Classes come back?
      A: The combat system completely changed trashing the Umbra & DragonSlayer class which no longer works and needs to be rebuilt. We do not have an exact time frame as we are focused on the bigger features to get the game live.

    • Q: How long will the tech demo be up?
      A: If we can keep working on it while it is live, we will keep it up while we make the fixes. Server stability has been pretty good.

    • Q: What about the buts in the Dragon's Lair
      A: The current test was aimed at Bludrut which is the only officially complete and working area. Lair used a lot of our old monsters and map machines which are broken. It was also done before our new quest design philosophy. So we need to go back and remake it. We are removing it from the world map and NPCs in the next build. Will remake it and bring it back later.

    • Q: When will smaller bugs like /wave and others be fixed?
      A: We will be updating the game live today. Thank you for helping test!

    • Q: Will the next Tech Demo be on mobile?
      A: The next step might be Alpha... this is going pretty good. Warlic said we need to do a full build and extra testing to make sure all of our changes still work properly on mobile. 

    • Q: Are we still doing a Kickstarter?
      A: It is definitely time to make a final decision. (I went back and forth on this quite a bit.)  A while back I posted about this gloriously terrible idea that I had. Still do not think anyone has done this specific idea on Kickstarter before-- and for good reason. We would have top just embrace the haters saying we are not taking anything seriously. But it would be a return to the chaotic humor of the early AE days... doing something just for the sake of saying we all did it together. 

  • 10:30am - On my second cup of coffee... the full team will be meeting shortly to review the bug list. Thank you again to everyone posting things for us to fix in the official discord channel. 
  • 4:00pm - The coders were in a frenzy today. The changes will not be rolling out until tomorrow. We will be doing game client and server update. So the game will be offline for a while tomorrow. The content team (including myself) has been focused fixing and investigating bugs. The emote issue caught me off guard. We have had a lot of issues with emotes like /wave. So I wrote a new emote manager (Mahahaha, they made the mistake of letting me code) and now we just have to add all of the emotes to it. Look at AQWorlds Infinity's psychotic animation tree O_O

  • 4:30pm - Eager to add more content. The game is really fun to play... we need to add tons more things to do inside of it.

Servers going offline shortly
This was a smashing success. Thank you again to everyone who has been helping to test. The player feedback was super positive and our 1st full adventure is very promising for the future of this game.

Servers went offline at 3pm EST.

We intend to be back online next week :D
